UFC weigh-ins are usually a fairly uneventful pre-fight spectacle, but that certainly wasn't the case on Friday for Saturday's UFC 148 event in Las Vegas. After Chael Sonnen and Anderson Silva both made weight for their main event Championship rematch, Silva delivered a shoulder strike into Sonnen's jaw, a cheap shot fueled by his mounting anger towards Sonnen that may draw him a fine from the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Then it was on to the final comments from the competitors, with Sonnen going into final sell mode with the following:
"Champion vs. Icon, Myth vs. Legend, Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen, The Fake Guy vs. The Bad Guy, and only on pay-per-view."
As for the Champion, he delivered his final message in English, saying:
"I don't respect Chael. Chael don't respect nothing, Chael don't respect the UFC, Chael no respect my country; tomorrow, I go to fight."
