For almost two years, UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva has been publicly disparaged by Chael Sonnen. The outspoken American challenger has been letting verbal barbs fly towards Silva, several of his training partners, and the country of Brazil in general since before the two stepped into the cage against one another at UFC 117.

With Sonnen coming the closest of any fighter in the UFC to defeating "The Spider," his verbal assault would continue. He ramped up the attacks, at times going personal, others more broadly broaching the subject, but all the while showing a very real lack of respect for Silva.

For Silva, he often kept tight-lipped when asked to respond to the many comments from Sonnen, but that all changed on Monday. The UFC Champ was heated during a media conference call for the event, and though he was unleashing his torrent of comments in Portuguese, the translations by manager Ed Soares were harsh enough.

"First of all Chael is a criminal, he's been convicted of crimes," Silva began. "He doesn't deserve to be in the Octagon, and when the time comes I'm going to break his face and break every one of his teeth in his mouth."

That was just Silva's initial response to questions on the call. He would go even further with his clear and heated desire to bring the assault to Sonnen on July 7 in their rematch at UFC 148.

"Playtime is over," Silva said. "I'm going to beat Chael like he's never been beaten before. The joke is over. There's no more talking. I know he's on the line listening, and the game is over. I'm going to beat his ass out of the UFC. He's never going to want to fight again after I'm done with him...

"It doesn't matter if I'm on the bottom, the side, the top – it doesn't matter. Chael Sonnen's going to get his ass kicked like he's never gotten his ass kicked before. What I'm going to do inside the Octagon is something that's going to change the image of the sport. I'm going to beat his ass like he's never been beaten before. I'm going to make sure that every one of his teeth are broken, his arms are broken, [and] his legs are broke. He's not going to be able to walk out of the Octagon by himself. I can guarantee that."

Sonnen's continued to hold the stance that the four and a half rounds he was beating Silva count for more than the submission at the end of the fight. However, Silva made it clear that he plans on giving Sonnen a completely different fight this time around.

"The first time we fought he stepped out a loser," Silva said. "This time he's going to step out a loser again. The only difference is this time he's going to need a plastic surgeon... I'm going to make him eat everything that he's said, not only about myself, but about our country, about everything. I'm going to make him pay and make sure he never disrespects any fighter. Not only Brazilian, but any fighter. I'm going to beat him maybe the way his parents should have beat him to teach him some manners."

"Because he's disrespectful, he's a criminal, and I'm going to beat him up like he's never been beat before. He can say whatever he wants, but I'm not playing any more."

Penick's Analysis: Dana White commented that he's never heard Silva like this in the entire time he's been in the UFC, and truly Silva was on a different plane entirely during this call. It was fascinating to hear, and surely the full translation from Brazilian media members will be even harsher than what was translated by Soares. Silva's fired up for this fight, and these comments will add even more fuel to one of the biggest pay-per-view events in some time. This fight will be massive, and Silva's in fine form into the event. Whether that translates into a different fight this time around remains to be seen, but he's never expressed this level of vitriol for an opponent before.
