For a lot of fighters, the worst part of their job is the extended lead up to their fights. The media appearances, open workouts, press conferences, flights, etc., it all serves as a distraction to the ultimate goal of picking up a win inside the cage on fight night.

UFC on Fox 3's Pat Barry knows the grind all too well, and this week he said he's really just ready for fight night.

"I'm so tired, I don't even want to talk to you any more," Barry joked in an interview with MMAJunkie.com during Wednesday's open workout.

"I'm ready to take a nap, go to sleep, get up and do a workout later. I just shadow-boxed a little bit. I'm answering questions."

Barry's week has been bogged down by travel delays in between media appearances, as well as a line of questioning that's got his head spinning in circles at times.

"I've been asked 10 times already today, 'Are you ready for Saturday?'" he said incredulously. "What kind of question is that? 'No. I'm fighting Saturday? I thought this was just interviews."

"I've been asked, 'Are you going to win on Saturday?' No, put money on him because I'm throwing this. It's just the ignorance that comes around."

For now, Barry just grins and takes it all in stride, readying for Saturday night when he steps into the cage against Lavar Johnson on network television. Of course, that's not even the part he's looking forward to most at this stage.

"I don't know what people are talking about – 'All the hard work is done, this is just time to relax and party now!'" Barry said. "Relax? How do you relax before a fight on Saturday?

"I have no idea. The best part of my week is Sunday when I'm going home."

Penick's Analysis: One of the best things about Pat Barry is his brutal honesty. He's a joker, for sure, and keeps up an energetic exterior, but he makes no secret about what he's feeling before he steps into the cage for a fight. He leaves no questions as to how he feels after he wins; or how he loses. He's just who he is, all the time, and will make that clear to anyone who speaks to him, and that endears him to a lot of fans, even when he's facing down negativity from others. Saturday's another chance to prove what he can do in the cage, and then it's off to enjoy his favorite part of fight week.
