Jose Aldo will not be returning to Brazil for his next fight, as Brazilian site O Globo reports that his Featherweight Title defense against Erik Koch will take place on July 21 in Calgary as initially planned.
That leaves the "Ultimate Fighter: Brazil" coaches bout between Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort as the main event of UFC 147 on June 23 in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Additionally, with this fight staying atop the card in Calgary, the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship bout between Jon Jones and Dan Henderson will likely come to a late August pay-per-view event.
Aldo will look to defend his Featherweight Title for a fourth time in the UFC, and sixth time overall going back to his time in the WEC. The 23-year-old Koch will step in to a quick title shot in his return from injury.
Penick's Analysis: That's another really unfortunate bit of news for the fans in Brazil, as it would have made a lot of sense to have this title fight take back over the top of the card after losing Silva-Sonnen II. It's still a great fight, though it may not sell as well in Calgary as it might have in Brazil. Still, it's when Aldo was comfortable returning, and that's what they have to go on.
