By: Alex Williams, MMATorch Contributor WEC made it official on Thursday that its 185 and 205 pound weight classes will be merged into the UFC. Beginning in 2009, WEC will only hold fights in the 170, 155, 145, and 135 pound weight divisions. The first WEC fighters to make the move will be reigning WEC 205 pound champion Steve Cantwell and the man he defeated to take the title, Brian Stann. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports at the link above that they will battle in a rubber match at the UFC's Tribute to the Troops show in December.
