"As far as Diaz, of course I would like to fight him because he thinks he's better than me. I think I'm better than him. But I think he should not retire. He did all of the sacrifice in his life to be where he's at right now. He's at the highest point of his career, and if he retires now, he's left a lot of money on the table that could pay for all of the sacrifices he has made during all those years. I think the sport of mixed martial arts needs a guy like him...

Of course because of the emotion I wanted to fight Diaz, but now I want to fight Condit. I want to fight the best man, and the best man is Condit. I wanted to fight him because of what he was, not because of what he said. He was ranked No. 1 before that fight... As much as we dislike each other, I like the guy in a way that I need a guy like him to motivate me and to make me a better martial artist."

-UFC Welterweight Champ Georges St-Pierre spoke to Sherdog.com this week and urged Nick Diaz not to retire in the midst of all he's dealing with.

Penick's Analysis: Diaz would be leaving a lot of money on the table if he walked away from the sport, though he wouldn't have a chance to make any of that until sometime in 2013 more than likely. If he does get suspended for a full year for his second failed drug test in Nevada, he really may decide he doesn't want to deal with anything that goes along with the sport right now. Of course, he may eventually change his mind, and with a full year on the sidelines the itch to fight might come back to him. With a spot on the UFC roster still open to him, I'd suspect we'll see him in the cage again. Whether the UFC will entrust another main event slot to him is another question.
