"A lot of guys are over looking me; a lot of guys are underestimating me. I know that Georges [St-Pierre] wants to fight Nick Diaz really bad but I have other plans. I feel like people are counting me out and that's a mistake, I'm coming to fight... I expect a war, Nicks a warrior and we are going to step in there and get after it, from bell to bell until one of us doesn't move anymore... I've been the underdog my entire career, people have always counted me out but I don't pay any mind to that. I'm ready for this s***. I think people are counting me out in this fight, but I'm ready to spoil the party...
Really I just need to tell myself to go out there and keep my hands up and my chin down and go out there and bury this motherf*****... The one position you don't want to be in is standing across the Octagon from me. The one thing that's standing between me and that belt and everything I've worked for is Nick Diaz... I've been looked over all my life. I've made a career out of beating the odds and smashing guys and finishing guys I wasn't supposed to have a chance against. He's coming to kick my ass. As long as I'm breathing as long as I'm conscious I'm coming after him, they are going to have to carry me out of that Octagon."
-UFC 143 headliner Carlos Condit talks about what he needs to do to Nick Diaz to capture the Interim Welterweight Championship during the final episode of UFC Primetime (transcribed by BJPenn.com).
Penick's Analysis: The Primetime series for this fight has been excellent, and the anticipation amongst hardcores for this Interim Welterweight Championship bout is at a fever pitch. Condit can be a mean, mean man in the cage, and it often goes overlooked with his relatively unassuming presence outside of it. But the series showed how focused and dedicated he is to capture this belt and stake his claim for being one of the very best in the world. If he goes out with the mentality to hurt Diaz and do it in quick fashion, it's the best chance he has to finish the fight and make his statement. As GSP set out on Fuel TV this week, if the fight is over in the first two rounds, Condit's likely the one getting his hand raised; third or fourth round would be Diaz's rounds more likely than not, but if it goes to a decision this one may be a tossup. I can't wait for tonight's fight, and quotes like these are only a small reason as to why.
