UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre posted a short video update (below) on Monday to update his status as he recovers from knee surgery. Here's what the Champ had to say:
"I'm back in Montreal for the weekend. I just started training gymnastics again. I'm very limited in what I can do but I had a great workout. Pat prepared a great training program for me. I'll see everyone next weekend in Las Vegas for the fight, Condit-Diaz."
There have been conflicting timetables for his return, with St-Pierre saying he's looking at an October or November return, while UFC President Dana White has said a summer return might even be possible. Regardless, he's back in the gym and is working on getting that knee better.
Penick's Analysis: The only thing I don't want to see is St-Pierre rushing back too quickly. There's no need for him to try to fast-track his return when it could lead to a re-aggravation of the injury. The Interim Champion will be there when he is able to return, and until then he just needs to make sure he doesn't do anything more to set himself back as he rehabs the injury.
