By: Alex Williams, MMATorch Contributor The UFC announced today that UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture will return to the organization and defend his title against Brock Lesnar on November 15 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas (not Portland, Oregon as previously rumored). After UFC "interim" heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueria's expected bout with Frank Mir on December 27, the winners of the two fights will face each other to unify the titles.
At the press conference, Couture said that the UFC is making an effort to set-up a bout for him against Fedor Emelianenko. However, Dana White made it clear that he is not willing to put together an Emelianenko/Couture match if it means co-promoting with another group (e.g. Affliction). Specifically regarding Affliction, White does not foresee the group being a barrier to Emelianenko/Couture, as he stated his belief that the promotion will fold within a few months.
