Brad Walker returning here with a new concept on a column I'm hoping to run on a weekly basis. This will basically be my thoughts and rants about MMA spilling out into words for you all to read, enjoy, and decide whether or not I am as crazy as my inner voice tells me I am. Some will be loose thoughts, others larger pieces, with some hilarity in between. Let's go!

-Here's a tough one for me to swallow: Pat Curran got beaten pillar to post by Patricio Pitbull in their rematch last Friday – what went wrong for the former champ? In their first bout he looked much better than in the second, but there's supposed to be evolution there. He looked more like he had regressed as a fighter, I don't know if there was a fluke or injury there that threw him off his game but - calling Pat a friend of mine – I was completely baffled. The rest of the Bellator card was a fun watch; Bobby Lashley is really a sight to behold with his size, although he definitely suffers from the condition known as pillow fists. I also had to see the Bonnar-Ortiz promo work, I actually feel it was a good concept, but with poor execution, and two fighters who can't pull off a pair of goggles much less a big reveal type wrestling angle. Scott Coker, if this was your decision, please stop. The Jenna Jameson joke was harsh, but got a giggle out of me.

-It is currently 2014, and neither Anderson Silva nor Georges St-Pierre hold titles in the UFC. On the flip side of that, there is a pretty decent chance that Ben Rothwell and Matt Mitrione will both be top ranked heavyweights by the end of the month. Going even deeper, Mitrione also has the second most knockouts in the history of UFC's heavyweight division. There is only one way to explain all of this: Aliens.

-The science of weight cutting is really ruining some of the more action packed weight classes out there; guys like Renan Barao and Jose Aldo, among many other elite fighters, are cutting fantastical amounts of weight to get into a more physically preferred weight class. I don't know that this can be limited or overseen to be safer, but somewhere, sometime, someone has got to draw a line on how far this can go. Scott Jorgensen shouldn't be at flyweight, and the fact that Anthony Johnson was once a welterweight blows my friggin mind. Mike Dolce is great and all, but what are we going to say about fairness in the sport when we have a 7 foot tall lightweight with an 80 inch reach who cuts down from 240? Yeah, we're gonna say “well played big man,” no, not really.

-What the hell has happened to Alistair Overeem? He is one of the most physically intimidating looking dudes on the planet, but his chin is about as durable as fine china plate ware. This guy has decimated two former UFC heavyweight champions in his UFC run, and lost to three guys who will never hold a belt… anywhere… ever. Is his salary even worth keeping him around? Bellator would probably happily scoop up The Reem, but I think we more likely see him get a tune up fight against Brendan Schaub or something incredibly uninteresting to that degree.

-Speaking of Bellator and their future plans, am I the only one who thinks that when Scott Coker says he's had “preliminary talks” with M-1 Global about Fedor fighting in Bellator, what really happened was this:

*Phone Rings*
Secretary: M-1 Global
Scott Coker: Scott Coker calling to discuss Fedor coming out of retirement to fight in Bellator
Secretary: Please hold
*transfers him to that one voicemail box no one checks*
Yes, that's “preliminary talks.”

Fedor's legacy has already been tarnished because of Strikeforce, he doesn't need to take it out back like Old Yeller and put it down by fighting in Bellator, a company known for its lack of roster depth or logical booking. A company giving Joey Beltran a title shot for abso-freaking-lutely no reason. If Fedor fights in Bellator, against Randy Couture or anyone else, I will dip my head in a pool of piranhas with roast beef tied to my face.

That's all for this week folks, thanks for reading and follow me on Twitter at @BradMMATorch
