By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief Diego Sanchez will be making his lightweight debut against Joe Stevenson at UFC 95, and now that bout has been confirmed as the main event of the evening for the February 21st card from the O2 Arena in London, England. There was speculation that plans were to find a different main event, and that the Sanchez vs. Stevenson bout would serve as a co-headliner, but Dana White confirmed at UFC 92's post fight press conference that the bout would in fact be headlining the UFC 95 card.
This is going to be a good test for Diego Sanchez in his first drop to 155 lbs. Stevenson, despite losing two of his last three fights (to top lightweights Kenny Florian and the Champ B.J. Penn) is still a highly talented and dangerous opponent for anyone. Sanchez is moving from a very talent rich welterweight division to another highly talent rich division at lightweight, and he's not going to get any easy fights on his newest quest to get a title shot.
UFC 95 will come to U.S. fans via tape delay on February 21st, 2009, from the O2 Arena in London, England, with current plans being for it to air free on Spike TV.
