We asked MMATorch readers for their reactions to Saturday's UFC Fight Night 26 event on Fox Sports 1, here's the first batch of responses:

Kenny D. (via Facebook): One of my favorite cards in a long time. And best of all it was free! McDonald looked crisp and dominating with his striking and the finish was slick. Lauzon was not in that fight at all, but kudos to Johnson for his much improved striking game. Uriah Hall can't compete with higher level opponents who are not TUF contestants. He looked too willing to be friends with Howard and not engage enough. He needs to put up or shut up (get cut) because his fights are huge let downs. Faber showed he is still elite. I love watching him fight because he constantly stays busy. Overeem needed that win over Browne after his PED bust and loss to Silva... but once again showed that he has zero gas tank and little respect for anyone's striking and power besides his own. Good showing by Browne to take that devastating knee and punches and keep going. And last but not least... Sonnen is strong and very good, but his TRT use will always make me look at him in low regard. Shogun, sadly, was dealt a death blow with that loss. Sad to see the mighty fall.

Mike K. (via email): Although many said the main event was useless (and they're right) it was still fun, and as an old time fan, sometimes a fun card is just what you need. Saturday's card was an awesome night of fun, and free to boot. Awesome job by all the fighters; Shogun looked like a bum though.

MMATorch Forum User BFoe: With the UFC being the flagship event on launch day of a new network available in millions of homes, they came through with an excellent card. Exciting prelims (McDonald, Gamburyan), and a lot of great action on the main card. There were some incredible underdogs coming trough with wins, and some awesome and unexpected finishes. Chael Sonnen subbed a BJJ black belt in the first round, Overeem got KOed with a front kick to the face, and Matt Brown and Urijah Faber looked great. It was a very good card, better than pay per views like UFC 163, and it was free. It's hard to find fault in that. Overall a very good event from the UFC.

MMATorch Forum User Michael: I was really interested to see how McDonald would react to his loss and he blew me away, not only with clean, crisp, accurate striking, but a slick ground game as well. Faber is surely next, and at 22 this kid is surely destined for gold. Everyone loses, champions react like that.

Think that's the end of the Hall band wagon now that the middleweight has lost his last two to welterweights. I wouldn't be surprised if him and overrated Overeem get cut while the vicious Matt Brown quietly kicks his way into the mix.

Joseph C. (via Facebook): The prelims were great. Michael McDonald was outstanding. Michael Johnson was just perfect on his stand up. Uriah Hall could have done a lot better. Matt Brown is dominating right now. Browne had a lot of heart. Overeem was slowing down with Browne's kicks. Great win for Browne. Chael Sonnen was excellent with his wrestling and scored a great submission. Overall great card, and every fight was good.
