Former WWE Diva Maria Kanellis will make her MMA announcing debut during WrestleMania weekend when HDNet airs the "King of the Cage: Legacy" MMA card on March 26 from Reno, Nev.
Maria's role will be a "backstage correspondent" for the live MMA card from the Silver Legacy Casino. HDNet's CEO pointed to Maria having a strong WWE fanbase as one of the reasons they hired her for the role.
"Maria is an amazing talent with a devoted fan base and we are excited to have her as part of our MMA broadcast team," said Andrew Simon, CEO of HDNet Fights. "Maria loves MMA and is a superstar on LIVE television - the MMA community will welcome the passion she will bring to covering the sport."
Maria was part of Sunday night's two-hour premiere of Donald Trump's "Celebrity Apprentice" show. She survived Week 1 without being eliminated and will continue on, along with Bill Goldberg.
Maria originally played a ditzy character on WWE television a few years ago, but evolved into an in-ring wrestler over time and also handled backstage interviews at various times. She announced her departure from WWE earlier this month, stating she was looking to try new things in her career.
