Finland's Katja Kankaanpaa captured the vacant Invicta FC Strawweight Title last September at Invicta FC 8, and she'll make her first title defense next month when the organization heads back to its home base of Kansas City, Mo.
Invicta FC officials announced on Friday that Kankaanpaa will meet the debuting Livia Renata "Livinha" Souza in the main event of Invicta FC 12. That card will take place from the Municipal Auditorium on Friday, April 24, bringing them back to Kansas City after traveling around for three straight events.
Kankaanpaa captured the title in a fifth round submission win over Stephanie Eggink last September on the first Invicta card to air on UFC Fight Pass. The belt had been vacated by Carla Esparza when several of Invicta's 115 lb. competitors were pulled into the UFC via The Ultimate Fighter 20.
Brazil's Souza makes her Invicta debut with a perfect 7-0 record, having submitted six of her opponents, with five finishes coming in the first round.
The April 24 card will once again stream live on UFC Fight Pass, and more bouts will be announced for the event in the coming weeks.
