World Series of Fighting Featherweight Champ Rick Glenn wants to get back into the cage quickly this fall, and while a rematch with Georgi Karakhanyan remains a possibility, Glenn would be more than content moving on.
"They offered me Lance Palmer right away," Glenn said in a recent interview with MMAJunkie.com. "I'm interested in that. Of course, I'm the type of guy that says I'll take whatever you give me. I'm here to fight."
"I want to move on. I've [also] had to fight guys twice in the past that weren't happy with me beating them. Of course, they underestimated me. I don't look like much right now; I don't have my helmet on."
Another issue for Glenn is Karakhanyan continuing to downplay the win, attributing nothing to Glenn for the rib injury he suffered in the fight. It's the talk that Glenn's getting tired of, and he says it's put a damper on the victory.
"It took away from the victory," Glenn said. "I respected the guy at first, and then all the comments came out. He's just a disrespectful punk. I don't think I'll ever shut him up. I think I could fight him 100 times, and after the comments he's made, I don't think he's ever going to stop with the excuses and complaining."
Penick's Analysis: As with most things between two opposed sides, the reality of that fight is somewhere in the middle. The rib injury hurt Karakhanyan's ability to fight as effectively as he might have otherwise, but you can't take away from Glenn for surviving Karakhanyan's early offense and doing what he did the rest of the fight. I'm sure most would like to see a rematch to clear any remaining doubts up, but whomever Glenn fights next is going to be worth watching.
