...OH, ONE MORE THING - PLEASE BOOKMARK US & VISIT DAILY!
By: Alex Williams, MMATorch Contributor The most shocking things about last night's K-1 DREAM event were the results of the three high profile kickboxing matches. Alistair Overeem, Tatsuya Kawajiri and Gegard Mousasi scored first round knocks outs over Badr Hari, Kozo Takeda and Musashi, respectively. While none of the MMA fighters have kickboxing records to speak of, Hari and Takeda are two of the top K-1 kickboxers in the world. Musashi is not a top kickboxer, but as a heavyweight K-1 veteran, he was certainly favored over the middleweight Mousasi.
What is more, under MMA rules, former Pride fighter and K-1 World Grand Prix champion Mark Hunt saw his cast iron chin fail him, as the 287 pounder was stretched in 18 seconds via a punching combination from the approx. 187 pound Melvin Manhoef.
