After a false start, Jon Fitch has officially signed with the World Series of Fighting, as MMAFighting.com confirmed the signing with WSOF senior executive VP Ali Abdel-Aziz.
Fitch doesn't have a debut fight set yet, but fellow former-UFC fighter Gerald Harris has already called him out on Twitter for a June 14 event in Las Vegas.
Additionally, that yet-to-be-announced event may also feature the WSOF debut of recently released UFC lightweight Jacob Volkmann. He tweeted that he's been offered a fight on the event against former Strikeforce lightweight Lyle "FancyPants" Beerbohm, and is awaiting word on whether Beerbohm has signed on.
Both Fitch and Volkmann were unceremoniously released from the UFC last month after just one loss in a row, despite their previous successes inside the Octagon. Now they'll have a new home on the NBC Sports Network.
UPDATE: For the second time, a WSOF representative have claimed a done deal with Jon Fitch, only to have Fitch himself refute it. Here's what he had to say on Twitter:
Lots of people making statements. I have signed nothing yet.
