By: Alex Williams, MMATorch Contributor Aleksander Emelianenko claims that his not passing medical tests on time was what kept him from competing at the Affliction: Banned event. The CSAC pulled Emelianenko from his fight with Paul Buentello just a day before the show. Rumors had surfaced that Emelianenko was blocked from fighting due to testing positive for Hepatitis B.
Affliction VP Tom Atencio stands by his claim that Affliction: Banned generated more than 100,000 buys on PPV. In fact, he now states that the final number will be "well over" that. Dave Meltzer reported last week that "independent estimates" of the number had it between 50,000 and 75,000.
Jake Rossen wrote a story on UFC I for the latest issue of Real Fighter Magazine that includes interviews with all of the old combatants. People are raving about it. BloodyElbow.com (legally) reproduces it here.
