Not long ago, I believe the voting would have been a lot more lopsided than our current poll asking MMATorch readers their prediction on the outcome of a Brock Lesnar vs. Fedor Emelianenko fight.
Fedor is still the predicted winner over Lesnar by most voters by a margin of 54 percent to 37 percent, with 8 percent saying there's just not enough info to base an educated prediction on.
Of those who think Fedor would win, nearly half voted for the option that said they think Fedor would win, but they can't count out Lesnar. Sure, Fedor beat the gigantic Hong-Man Choi, but Lesnar is an entirely different bodytype and showed against MIr that chest-to-chest smothering with a swinging low punch protected him from the type of armbar that Fedor used from underneath to tapout Hong-Man Choi.
But among those who are the most confident in the winner, 14 percent pick Fedor and only 6 percent Lesnar. Few people think Lesnar is a sure-fire "quick and easy" victor, and those six percent are either very impressed by Lesnar or haven't seen Fedor's fights. Those who are very confident Fedor would win "quickly and easily" have a lot more evidence to point to.
What's great about this dream match-up is that we're not talking about a 30 year old on the rise trying to sneak in a fight against a 40-plus year old near retirement (like the Lesnar-Couture fight was) where you don't get to see the two fighters in their prime. If Lesnar vs. Fedor happens in the next year or two, it will truly be a fight between two MMA champions in their primes who are within a year of each other in age. It's just a great scenario all-around, because no matter what happens in the first match, there's time for at least one or two rematches while both are still in their 30s if it turns out to be a close, heated rivalry.

Well i personally voted for what the majority voted for, as well, but the
reason i did this is because i have seen how the weight counts so much with
someone who, i must admit it, is not unskilled, like lesnar, i mean he
seems unidimensional to me, but with his weight and body type, thats
enough, he might not be the greatest fighter but he is a great challenge,
coz of this i mentioned earlier, the case here is that i believe the fight
should be made in a Ring coz the cage is just too much advantage for a
wrestler with such weight difference over the adversary, thats my opinion
at least, because thsi fight with Mir should have taught us that weight,
does make a difference, and finally, I believe Fedor should fight as i said
in the right for the unification, or if he doesnt, then he should fight
some other fighters before he goes for the title, because i believe it
would be unfair for such an important fight to pit him against someone with
much more experience in the cage, i mean maybe a couple fighst before the
title shot would be great, vs.. mmm Velazquez, Congo, Crocop, Shane, Mir, 2
or 3 fights with those and then for the title shot for whoever has it in
that moment

BARNNET VS FEDOR SHOULD ANSWER QUESTIONS AS TO HOW WELL FEDOR CAN DEAL WITH
A BIGGER STRONGER WRESTLER ON THE GROUND.

There was big aspect which comes into play here and that is Fedor is the
master of capitalising on opponents mistakes and Lesnar is still new to MMA
and all its complexties and so can easily make mistakes.
If it does come to the fight the only way I can see Lesnar winning (and
maybe a short bet to) laying on top of Fedor and pounding him in the same
manner as he did with Mir.
If anyone thinks Lesnars physique will gurantee him wins then you should go
and look at Bob Sapp.
P.s. Calm down with the adverts guys, esp the pop up's...its kind of
offensive to the reader and a bit to OTT.
Lesnar is no Choi, Sapp, or Barnett. Lesnar has learned how to use his size
and weight to full advantage with the quickness of someone much lighter.
Fedor has never fought anyone like Lesnar.
A majority of MMA fans thought the Texas Crazy Horse would beat Lesnar.
Nearly everyone thought that Couture would teach Lesnar a lesson in martial
arts, and many though Mir would take out Lesnar the second time. None of
those things happened either.
I'm so sick of people saying Lesnar isn't a skilled fighter or that's he's
too one dimensional. Until someone figures out how to beat him with his new
found patience and confidence, he is the most dangerous and accomplished
fighter on the planet.
Yes Fedor might get off a great hit to Lesnar's chin and win. But more than
likely, Lesnar will take him down, control him and beat Fedor senseless.
There is no real defense for those gigantic fists of Lesnar that hit with
piston like precision. Mir's face looked liked a swollen grape with simple
indirect hits in the first round. And Fedor is no where near as strong as
Mir.
Right now, Lesnar has no equal. Fedor is very good, but Lesnar will destroy
him.

"And Fedor is no where near as strong as Mir."---->How do you know?
Can you point out to some article, or experiment that was conducted, or
that you yourself conducted, and found out that Mir is stronger than Fedor.
Otherwise, s.t.f.u and stop spreading the seeds of your ignorance through
forums. Its weird how ignorant people are, oh well I guess that's why
casinos make a lot of money,'cause people like you have everything figured
out, can see in the future, and know what they are talking about.

To Joe
I'm just hoping we can get three great fights out of those two. We might
never see anything this good in MMA again.
Mir Is Stronger
15 Jul 2009, 14:55
I'm sorry, I'm not even sure how you can argue that Fedor may be stronger
than Mir. Of course Mir is stronger. Is Fedor a superior fighter to perhaps
just about everyone in MMA? Sure. Stronger? PLEASE. Talk about ignorance.
Jordan -what a laugh riot you are. More jokes please. This place needs more
humor.
Fedor may not need strength to beat Lesnar, but Mir couldn't hold those
gigantic fists away from his head.
I'm content to just wait for this fight.

This is from Wikipedia so you may have to take this with a grain of salt.
Emelianenko used to weight train extensively, but in 1997 he almost
completely substituted his weight exercises with sport-specific training in
grappling, boxing, and kickboxing. His strength training consists of daily
pull-ups, dips, and crunches.
I'm going with Mir is stronger on this one.
BUT the whole idea behind martial arts is that strength won't matter unless
the competitors are evenly matched.
I see this fight ending quickly and either man may be the winner.
