"I've put myself in this category as this confrontational person who creates controversy, but for people to grasp what was happening and to be like, "Holy s---, I might never be able to see this guy fight again!" That saddened them more than anything probably. I'm sure some of them said, 'I hope that son of a b---- dies.' I don't know. I'm sure there are people out there like that, but that's just the way it is... My hands [are my biggest weakness right now]. I'm constantly working on my hands, I'm constantly working on my ground game, and constantly trying not to get satisfied with where I'm at with my career and where I'm at as an athlete. I'm somewhat happy, but never satisfied... If I had to say one thing about Vince [McMahon] it would be ruthless. If I had to say something about Dana [White] it would be diligent and somewhat brilliant. Two different approaches to business. I had a great run with WWE. WWE gave me great visibility, I met my wife there, and I got paid a lot of money, it was just my time to go. I sensed it. I was smart enough to leave. That's the bottom line... I wouldn't be opposed to [a one night only return to the WWE]. I'm still focused on my fighting right now, but if the opportunity arose some day, I'd never say never."
-UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar talks to ESPN about fan reaction to news of his illness, never being satisfied with where he's at in his career and the differences between Dana White and his old boss in the WWE Vince McMahon.
Penick's Analysis: He's got it right on the majority of fan reaction to his illness. I think most, even if they hate on him in public, were thinking it would be terrible if they never got to see him fight again. Even those that are nowhere near fans of Lesnar want to see his next fight in the hopes that his opponent will put a beating on him or shut him up. That's what makes for a great draw, as he's someone that some people love, some people hate, but everyone wants to watch.
It would be interesting to see him make a one night only return to the WWE, if only to see what the reaction would be from not only the wrestling fans, but the media and MMA fans as well. It could well be a massive sh**storm of negativity.
He softened his stance towards the WWE in this interview from previous interviews as well, as he's tried to distance himself from it as much as possible. The more he's accepted in MMA I think the less aversion he'll have to his past in the WWE, as the more he continues to prove himself in the Octagon the more people will take that past for what it was: a chance for him to make a lot of money at something he had a knack for.
