"I didn't degrade him and say he was an idiot [when I beat him]...There was no point to kick the guy while he was down...OK, I beat the guy. What, am I going to spit on you, too?..When he didn't come after me, that really threw me off...He didn't land any punches on his feet, did he?...I didn't expect him to run...He ran like a lightweight. ... It's my fault. I should have trained that he would be intimidated from the standup...I basically was (within) a half-an-inch of catching him...I made a stupid mistake...If I can just nail that gap to even 10 pounds, it'll be a different fight next time...Hopefully next time, I'll show him how somebody is supposed to act in victory."
Penick's Analysis: Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. And people wonder why Lesnar would react like he did after the fight? I'm being completely serious here, so Frank Mir thinks it's all fine in the lead up to undermine your opponent at every turn and then it's all about the competition come fight night? He may not have immediately "spit on" Lesnar after beating him the first time, but he sure did in the last few months with every, "I made him tap, I made him cry Uncle" comment thrown his way and every comment about his lack of skill or his coaches not being very good or any of the litany of other comments he strung together before the fight. And then to try to subtly undermine Lesnar's win again with "I was a half inch away from catching him" in the stand up is garbage. He's still taking digs at the guy even after getting his ass handed to him and it's precisely why Lesnar's post fight reaction to him trying to quickly get up off the canvas was what it was. He can keep poking and prodding the beast all he wants, but it's only going to make the next beating more severe.
