...OH, ONE MORE THING - PLEASE BOOKMARK US & VISIT DAILY!
By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief There's a lot that's been going on in and around Josh Koscheck's fighting life over the last few months. Things are poised to continue that way as Koscheck steps back into the Octagon tomorrow night for the second time in less than two months. With distractions abounding from his camp's feud with Dana White, Koscheck is feeling focused, and he's looking only at his next opponent, Yoshiyuki Yoshida.
In an interview with MMAWeekly Radio, Koscheck discussed the short turn around following the fight with Alves, getting back and training right away and what he's looking to do to win this fight. With the loss to Alves, he said he "took a lot of kicks so my legs were pretty beat up...I had a couple little small nagging injuries, but that's just life and that's life being a fighter and life of somebody who trains for a living."
In regards to his opponent tomorrow night, Yoshida, he said "He's definitely well rounded, I wouldn't say he's just a judo fighter. His first fight in the UFC he submitted his opponent, so I think it's a good match-up. I think the fans should expect an exciting and entertaining fight. Hopefully on both parts." He also said he's been training well; and with one of his coaches being Dave Camarillo, who himself is a black belt in both BJJ and Judo, Koscheck thinks he'll be able to do what he needs to to finish the fight early.
Yoshida's going to be a tough opponent who, while currently unranked, will still provide a jumping point back into the top of the card mix should Koscheck pick up the victory. He's got a great attitude these days about his fighting, and he said "I'm not really concerned about rankings. I just want to fight the best guys and just get out there and show that I am training my butt off in the gym every week and just put on good fights for the fans."
Finally, with everything that's gone down in the last month with his gym and the UFC, including the 24 hour release of Jon Fitch, Koscheck says he's not thinking about it. "I’m focused on fighting Yoshida on Dec 10th, that's all I really care about. I'm not talking about [the Fitch situation], I'm focused on fighting, I have a big fight coming up and that's my priority."
