After an event of status quo, we crowned a new champion at UFC 120. #1 contender to the Prediction Title Eric Marchment held his ground with an even 5-5 mark (a much better effort on this card than others) and was able to wrest away the strap from late-arriving champ John Hickman, who only managed a 4-6 tally. Congrats to our new Prediction Champion Eric Marchment!
On the betting side, Champ Cambo "Rambo" Nelson out-dueled his challenger yet again, besting Mikey "Effin" Fritz. Both men bet $100 on Rob Broughton, but it was Nelson's $300 bet on huge underdog Mike Pyle that made the difference. Congrats to Mr. Nelson on retaining his title (yet) again!
In the pools, it was the tale of two contests. Shaun Godric Louis notched a contest-best 7-3 mark on his predictions (not too shabby, but awful for a "contest-best"), besting a slew of mediocre to bad entries to earn a crack at new champ Eric Marchment, while on the betting side, newcomer Odin was one of five entrants to more than double his money. His $500 bet on Pyle and $200 bet on Broughton was enough to edge Brent King and earn the next shot at Rambo. Congrats to Odin, and good luck to the champions and challengers at UFC 121! Performer of the Night: Shaun Godric Louis. A contest-best on predictions and turned a modest profit on his bets. But mostly, this award goes to Louis for keeping me from having to tally tie-breakers for seven people.
Goat of the Night: Ryan Wankel. Sub-.500 on the picks and a goose egg on the bets. Better luck next time.
