Well after months of new champion after new champion here at the Torch, things have finally settled down. Both the Prediction and Betting titles stayed at home with the champs on Saturday. On the prediction side, now two-time defending champ Gavin "Juggernaut (that one is newly minted)" Byrne handily dispatched of longtime worthy competitor Jerry "MD" Cattelane. Byrne correctly predicted seven out of ten fights, besting Cattelane by three. Who will he defend against at UFC 91? Well read on to find out, silly.
Betting Champ Rich Boles was even more impressive, fairing better than every other competitor and pitching a shutout against board regular Nut. Nut goes back to the pool after stepping in on short notice when #1 contender "The Dark Monster" Bruzer failed to show. Boles nearly tripled his money, while Nut whiffed on every bet. A break down of their correctly picked bets:
Boles-$200 on Dos Santos (+900) for $2000
$400 on Franca (-115) for $747.83
Total Payout: $2747.83
Nut-um...like I said, nothin'.
So our champions defended, but who will there next challenge come from? In what's becoming a regular occurance, Micky "The Silent Assassin" Wan blew away the rest of the pool going 9-1, and that'll set up yet another heavyweight showdown with our Prediction Champ. The rest of the results:
Wan: 9-1
Boles: 7-3
Fuller: 6-4
Nut: 6-4
Kubi(the artist formerly known as Tyson Kubas, but nevermore): 5-5
Hart: 5-5
Gawn: 5-5
Laurenco: 5-5
Pelkey: 5-5
Hyden: 4-6
Murphy: 4-6
There were some solid performances on the Betting side, but that's mainly attributable to people throwing small bets at Junior Dos Santos, who at +900 was too good to pass up for most. The most intriguing happening in the betting pool is that our #1 contender is also our Prediction Champ! The "Juggernaut" will have a chance to be the first to hold both belts simultaneously in The Contests v3.0. The rest of the pool:
Byrne: $200 on Dos Santos (+900) for $2000
Total payout: $2000
Wan: $100 on Dos Santos (+900) for $1000
$400 on Miller (-115) for $747.83
Total payout: $1747.83

Total payout: $1733.33
Fuller: $100 on Dos Santos (+900) for $1000
$200 on Franca(-115) for $373.91
Total payout: $1373.91
