Bellator Fighting Championships has added veteran middleweight Zelg Galesic to their roster, and the Croatian will take part in Bellator's season five middleweight tournament.
Galesic joins Alexander Shlemenko, Bryan Baker, Vitor Vianna, Jared Hess, Brian Rogers and Sam Alvey as confirmed competitors in next season's field, with the winner getting a shot at Bellator Middleweight Champion Hector Lombard.
"Zelg is a great addition to our Season 5 Middleweight Tournament," said Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney. "And now that he's back 100% from injury, he should be competitive with our top Middleweights."
The Cage Rage and DREAM veteran brings a 10-5 career record to the tournament, having most recently snapped a two fight losing skid - coming against now Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza and longtime MMA vet Kazushi Sakuraba - with a KO win over Lee Chadwick at an event in the UK after 18 months out of action.
"I think I match up well with the fighters in this tournament - guys like Alexander Shlemenko, Bryan Baker, and Sam Alvey," said Galesic. "And Hector Lombard is a great fighter. He's always very exciting to watch. I hope I will get a chance to touch gloves with him one day."
"I see Bellator as a place to really make a major name for myself in the United States. I'm extremely excited to compete in the upcoming Bellator Middleweight Tournament. I'm even more excited to win the whole thing."
