Last Friday's Bellator MMA 134 event from the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn., drew an average of 872,000 viewers to Spike TV, according to a report from TV By The Numbers.
The card, headlined by the Light Heavyweight Championship bout between Emanuel Newton and Liam McGeary, drew a .4 rating among adults 18-49.
It was the organization's second "tentpole" event under Scott Coker's watch, with a different production feel from Bellator 133 earlier in the month. Friday's event drew more than 300,000 more average viewers than that event.
Penick's Analysis: This is a solid number, but you can see why they're reaching for matchups like Kimbo and Shamrock to bring even bigger numbers. They've continued to bring numbers like this for most of their bigger cards, occasionally hitting over a million average viewers, but they're also often bringing numbers in the range of Bellator 133. We'll see if they can raise that up from event to event as the year goes on with what they've got on the roster, or if they'll continue to go the route of Slice-Shamrock more often.
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
