Dave Jansen was supposed to fight Michael Chandler in June of last year for the Bellator Lightweight Championship, but injuries took him out of that fight, and have kept him sidelined ever since.
Now, after 19 months out of action, Jansen will return in October in a fight against Rick Hawn at Bellator 130, according to a report from MMAJunkie.com
Jansen won the already delayed season seven lightweight tournament in March of last year, defeating Marcin Held by decision to cap off the tournament started in the fall of 2012. Unfortunately, that's where his run ended, as the division moved on without him.
He's taking the fight with former lightweight and welterweight tournament winner Hawn, who returns to lightweight after a loss to Douglas Lima in April for the Bellator Welterweight Title, rather than waiting out the winner of Michael Chandler-Will Brooks II.
