Last Friday night on Spike TV, Bellator's pay-per-view from May, Bellator 120, made its cable debut. Adding to its status as one of the more successful events in Bellator's history, the replay outdrew all the live offerings from Bellator during season 10 earlier this year.
According to a report from Jason Floyd at TheMMAReport.com, Friday's replay drew 890,000 viewers to Spike TV on average, besting the previous best broadcast from season 10, Bellator 110, by 10,000 viewers.
The pay-per-view, headlined by the light heavyweight bout between Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal, managed to draw 100,000 pay-per-view buys, surpassing the expectations of most and becoming one of the highest selling non-UFC MMA pay-per-views of all time.
Penick's Analysis: This is a great number for a replay broadcast. There is every possibility that with a few tweaks to the format, spreading events out a little further, and trying to put on the most entertaining events that they can, we'll be seeing better numbers for Bellator events more often. There's reason to be optimistic for at least the short term with Scott Coker now in charge, but we'll have to see how things come together this fall.
