MMA fans in the UK have been wondering for some time when Bellator MMA would finally get on television in their country. Considering the addition of several fighters out of the UK, it seemed a deal was imminent, and on Thursday they officially announced their first TV deal in the UK.
Beginning with the June 19 summer series event, Bellator will air on Viacom-owned VIVA. The other summer series events will air on the network as well, and Bellator's ninth season will begin on the network in September.
"We are thrilled to finally bring the pure excitement of Bellator MMA to the legions of dedicated and knowledgeable mixed martial arts fans in the UK," remarked Rebney. "Our long awaited expansion into the UK, one of the world’s MMA hot beds further illustrates our continued ascension in the MMA world."
"This deal is game changer in the UK, giving Bellator the widest and deepest distribution of any MMA promotion in the marketplace," added Spike TV President Kevin Kay.
