A light heavyweight bout between Ovince St. Preux and Strikeforce newcomer Joe Cason is coming to Strikeforce Challengers 17 next month according to a report from MMAFighting.com.
St. Preux is riding a seven fight win streak, with four of those fights coming inside the Strikeforce cage. The 28-year-old took three fights in the organization from November of last year to January of this year, winning three straight decisions in impressive fashion.
Cason brings a 9-1 record into his Strikeforce debut, and is bringing an eight fight winning streak of his own to this fight. In his most recent outing, the Iowa native knocked out UFC vet Sean Salmon in the first round.
Strikeforce Challengers 17 is headlined by a rubber match between Roger Bowling and Bobby Voelker, and takes place from the Pearl at the Palms Casino and Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 22.
