Herschel Walker's second career MMA fight took much less time than his first bout, as he took out Scott Carson by TKO in the first round of their bout at Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg on Showtime on Saturday night.
The 48-year-old former Heisman Trophy winner and longtime NFL veteran, training out of the American Kickboxing Academy, controlled the fight from the outset.
After Carson landed a high kick, Walker immediately came forward with a fury, landing a left to the temple that sent Carson to the ground. Carson would eventually scramble to a turtled position on his knees, where Walker proceeded to land strikes and control Carson's position.
Carson once tried to get to his feet, and Walker picked him up and dropped him back into that position. After an extended period of Walker looking for his shots, Carson finally worked to the cage and tried to walk up. As he got to his feet, Walker landed a left hook to the jaw that sent him right back down and the fight was called.
After the fight, Walker stated that he's looking to continue on in MMA, and shrugged off the widely reported notion that he "wanted" to return to football. Despite his age, Walker will get another fight in Strikeforce in the future if he wants to fight on.
