Bobby Lashley has an opponent set for Strikeforce: Los Angeles on June 16.
After taking up until the last week to book his first Strikeforce opponent, Lashley is now set two months out from the fight to face off against fellow undefeated heavyweight Ron Sparks, according to a report from MMAJunkie.com.
Lashley, the former WWE and TNA professional wrestler and two time NAIA National Wrestling Champion, has put together a 5-0 record after making the move to MMA. He made his Strikeforce debut in January, defeating Wes Sims in the first round.
Sparks has a 5-0 record himself, though his most recent fight was a decision victory last June. He's listed as 6'5" and 285 lb., and began his career with four straight TKO fights.
Strikeforce: Los Angeles takes place from the Nokia Theater on June 16, headlined by a catchweight fight between Robbie Lawler and Renato "Babalu" Sobral.
Penick's Analysis: It's good that they've got Lashley's opponent set well in advance, and Sparks seems like a reasonable fight for him at this point in his career. It's another extra large fighter for him to face off against, and he'll test himself against the size and strength of Sparks. It should be an interesting matchup for this Showtime card.
