Gegard Mousasi has parted company with the promotional company M-1, according to a report at Sherdog. Mousasi, along with Fedor Emelianenko, was one of the crown jewels in the M-1 stable. He remains under contract to Strikeforce, and tells Sherdog that he has found new representation.
Williams' Analysis: This opens the door to Mousasi competing in the UFC. Word leaked previously from Zuffa that M-1 had misrepresented the UFC's offer to Mousasi. M-1 management supposedly told Mousasi that the UFC's deal was worth a lot less than it actually was so as to encourage Mousasi to sign with Strikeforce, with which M-1 co-promotes events. Once Mousasi finishes up his contractual obligations with Strikeforce and Dream, expect the UFC to make an aggressive bid for him--one that will hopefully be communicated to him accurately.
