The four fight televised portion of Strikeforce's first foray into primetime television is just about set, as MMAWeekly.com reports that Fabricio Werdum is expected to take on former EliteXC Heavyweight Champion on the November 7th event on CBS.
The night will be headlined by the heavyweight bout between Brett Rogers and Fedor Emelianenko, and will also feature Jake Shields vs. Jason "Mayhem" Miller for the Strikeforce Middleweight Championship along with Gegard Mousasi in what will now be a non-title bout against a yet to be named opponent on the televised card.
Werdum made his Strikeforce debut in August, defeating Mike Kyle via first round submission. It was his first bout since a knockout loss to Junior Dos Santos in late 2008 in the UFC. He was released shortly thereafter.
"Bigfoot" is on a six fight win streak, most recently defeating Jim York in Japan for World Victory Road's Sengoku event in September. This would be his first fight stateside since testing positive for steroids following his victory over the late Justin Eilers for EliteXC in the summer of 2008.
Penick's Analysis: It's a good heavyweight bout for Strikeforce, though if true it means "Bigfoot" likely won't be facing Barnett any longer in Japan, unless he plans on fighting twice in November. With Alistair Overeem out of action for Strikeforce until early 2010 at the soonest it makes sense to get Werdum into another bout, and as he's one of only a few heavyweight contenders that Strikeforce has it will be good to expose him to what will be the largest audience in Strikeforce's history.
