Who wins the Hector Lombard vs. Anthony Smith fight, and why?

Anthony Smith has won ten of his last eleven bouts. He has shown an ability to finish fights in a variety of ways. He’s going to need all those tools against Hector Lombard. With many knock out victories to his name Lombard has displayed that his has power of his own. That being said Lombard’s record has not been nearly as impressive recently. Lombard has not officially won a fight since 2014. Lombard desperately needs this result to be a win but it’s not likely. This bout will continue to be part of his losing streak as Smith will be victorious. Smith will need to be faster to find the knockout but its there for the taking.

I’m going to go with Lombard here. He has a history of not always performing at his best, but I think he comes out in this fight and reminds us of how good he can be. I think he stops Smith in the second round by TKO. The talent is there, but can Lombard put it together on a consistent basis? This time, I think the answer is yes. He might stumble in his next fight, but I think he delivers a big win in this one.

I’ll take Lombard in this by 2nd TKO. This is going to be a make or break fight for Lombard. He is on 3 fight losing streak and needs a win to stay the UFC I think. He’s name value can only save him for so long. Smith is going to have a large height and reach advantage at 6’4″ over Lombard who only stands at 5’9″. Smith will need to use this to his advantage and keep Lombard at a distance. His best stragety would be to try and slow Lombard’s blitz style attack down with hard leg kicks. Smith is also extremly durable and capable of keeping high pace through all three rounds something Lombard has not been known for. I think Lombard will try use his world class Judo to his advantage and get Smith to the ground. From there he will be able to control the fight and earn a TKO stoppage.
