9/30 MORNING UPDATE
If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Our tech team has been working on even more tweaks based on your feedback, and have optimized the site for Safari and the default Android browser. They're continuing to work on the same for both Chrome and Opera as well. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site this morning:
-Rich Hansen's back in the matchmaker's chair today, breaking down the top fights to make out of UFC 178. Excerpt on Conor McGregor: “In a just world, the winner of the upcoming fight between Frankie Edgar and Cub Swanson will be getting the next shot at the Featherweight Championship. But in UFC Land (credit Karyn Bryant) where the UFC has managed to sabotage the drawing power of Jon Jones, where the UFC has chased off Georges St-Pierre, where the UFC has put Anthony Pettis on the shelf for so long that the public is turning on him, where the UFC put on a disgraceful public shaming of Renan Barao, where the UFC spent years shoving Chael Sonnen down your throat while he was shoving every needle he could find into his ass, Conor McGregor is the only conceivable candidate to receive the next title shot, because he might be the first in-house star they've created since GSP debuted more than a decade ago.” Head to the mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser for the full column.
-Chris Weidman didn't take too kindly to Vitor Belfort's recent comments that his injury was just to hold onto the title through Christmas, and he went off on the challenger this week. Weidman said that he wants to “completely embarrass” Belfort and “make a mockery of him” in their fight next year. See his comments with further comments on the mobile site.
-Saturday's UFC Fight Night 54 event has a couple of changes, as Mitch Gagnon has a new opponent yet again, and Patrick Holohan's gotten a new opponent as well. Get more info on the changes on the mobile site now.
-Our morning poll today asks readers whether or not they think Donald Cerrone will fight for the UFC Lightweight Title in 2015. 48% think he's going to get there after one more win, 47% think it's possible, and 11% think he's going to suffer another slip up on his way there.
We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
