9/2 AFTERNOON UPDATE
If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Our tech team has been working on even more tweaks based on your feedback, and have optimized the site for Safari and the default Android browser. They're continuing to work on the same for both Chrome and Opera as well. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site this afternoon:
-A new roundtable up this afternoon sees the crew discuss what's next for T.J. Dillashaw, and which of the available challengers makes the most sense for his next title defense. Dominick Cruz seems to be the popular choice, and it's a sensible fight if he beats Takeya Mizugaki. Excerpt from Rich Hansen: “I wasn't particularly interested in the Barao rematch originally, and now that Dana White says he's not getting the shot when he returns, I think it's safe to eliminate that name from this question. Out of Assuncao (holds a win over Dillashaw), Faber (The Golden Child), or Cruz (never lost his title in the cage), Dominick Cruz is the easy choice here.” Get the full roundtable on our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser.
-In follow up to UFC 177, the California State Athletic Commission released the full disclosed payroll and medical suspension lists today. T.J. Dillashaw topped the list of payouts, while Joe Soto and Danny Castillo received the lengthiest suspensions. Head to the mobile site for the full list of both.
-Bellator Champ Pat Curran has a rematch with Pitbull Freire on Friday, one fight removed from a third meeting against Daniel Straus. As he sees it, that's likely to continue, as he believes multiple fights with both fighters are still in the future for him in the organization. Catch his comments with further thoughts on that possibility on the mobile site.
-In a new fight booking for the UFC's first trip to Halifax, Nova Scotia, flyweights Patrick Holohan and Louis Gaudinot will square off on the card. Get more info on both fighters on the mobile site now.
We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
