WEDNESDAY 8/27 NIGHTTIME UPDATE

If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Our tech team has been working on even more tweaks based on your feedback, and have optimized the site for Safari and the default Android browser. They're continuing to work on the same for both Chrome and Opera as well. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site tonight:

-UFC Featherweight Champ Jose Aldo shoved challenger Chad Mendes at a media event this week for their October fight. Unfortunately, he also said afterward that he did it solely to “spice things up.” Catch Aldo's comments with further analysis regarding Aldo trying to artificially play things up on our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser.

-Aldo's teammate, Renan Barao, is trying to recapture the UFC Bantamweight Championship on Saturday night at UFC 177, and he thinks the rematch is going to go very different than the first fight in May. He believes he came in lethargic, and was taken out of it early on by the big knockdown in the first round. He doesn't expect that to happen again. More from Barao with some further thoughts on the mobile site.

-In a new roundtable today, the crew looked ahead to the Eddie Alvarez-Donald Cerrone bout, and what the winner will have to do to get to a title fight. Excerpt from Cash Norman: “If for some reason Alvarez is able to pull off the victory, he will get the next title shot at lightweight. I feel confident this will happen because other high profile fighter acquisitions have received the same offer. Fighters like Alistair Overeem and Hector Lombard would have received a title shot had they won, but after Overeem won he failed a drug test, and Lombard lost to Tim Boetsch. Honestly, with the exception of WEC/Strikeforce, fighters acquired from outside organizations have not faired well in the UFC; especially if you look at their career over the long run.” Full roundtable on the mobile site.

-Speaking of Alvarez, UFC President Dana White commented this week on what he feels is the unfortunate nature of Alvarez missing a couple of key years due to the legal issues with Bellator, and why he's just happy to see Alvarez get his shot now. More of White's comments with additional thoughts on the mobile site.

-The Nevada Athletic Commission isn't likely to dismiss their complaint against Wanderlei Silva, as the attorney general's office has officially recommended that the commission deny Silva's motion to dismiss as they feel they do have juridiction over him. More on the situation on the mobile site now.

-With Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping's continued trash talking making that bout likely next, Lyoto Machida needs a new targeted opponent. To that end, his camp believes a fight with C.B. Dollaway makes sense. Further thoughts on those two potential fights on the mobile site.

We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!
