...OH, ONE MORE THING - PLEASE BOOKMARK US & VISIT DAILY!
FRIDAY 8/22 MORNING UPDATE
If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Our tech team has been working on even more tweaks based on your feedback, and have optimized the site for Safari and the default Android browser. They're continuing to work on the same for both Chrome and Opera as well. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site this morning:
-Former RFA Champ Brian Ortega's impressive and successful UFC debut is now neither of those things, as he tested positive for anabolic steroids after his win over Mike De La Torre. The win has now been overturned to a no contest, he's been fined $2,500, and suspended nine months. Further thoughts on Ortega's failed drug test on our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser.
-On that note, the state of drug testing in MMA continues to be a point of contention, and Georges St-Pierre is going to remain out of the UFC as long as it continues as it is. He said this week he absolutely will not return to fight again unless he and his opponent are tested by an independent program. See his thoughts with further analysis on the mobile site.
-Eddie Alvarez is excited for his upcoming UFC debut against Donald Cerrone, as he's now getting an opportunity in the Octagon to prove himself as the No. 1 fighter at 155 lbs. More of his comments with further analysis on the mobile site now.
-Saturday's UFC Fight Night 48 event is all set, as all fighters hit weight at the weigh-ins overnight. See the full weigh-in results on the mobile site.
-Our morning poll asked readers for predictions on Saturday's UFC Fight Night 49 main event between Benson Henderson and Rafael dos Anjos. 75% believe Henderson will win a decision, which seems a pretty fair assessment of the matchup.
We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
