WEDNESDAY 7/23 MORNING UPDATE
If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Our tech team has been working on even more tweaks based on your feedback, and have optimized the site for Safari and the default Android browser. They're continuing to work on the same for both Chrome and Opera as well. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site this morning:
-In his weekly piece today, Frank Hyden sounds off on the Good, Bad, and Ugly from UFC Fight Night's 45 and 46 before ripping into Dana White's comments about a potential Chris Weidman-Vitor Belfort fight happening in Brazil. Excerpt: “I just don't understand this. In one move, Dana White has switched the narrative from "Weidman wants Belfort" to "Weidman to fight Belfort in Brazil" and he's put Weidman in a bad spot. Weidman likely won't want to fight Belfort in Brazil, and why the hell should he? Belfort has tested positive for PEDs on more than one occasion. Weidman is the UFC Middleweight Champion, he's got a lot to lose in this scenario so he needs to make sure that the deck isn't stacked against him. However, if he refuses to fight Belfort in Brazil then that makes the champion look weak.” Head to the main listing of our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser for the full column.
-Speaking of Weidman-Belfort, Dana White commented on Belfort if he manages to get licensed today by the Nevada Athletic Commission, saying that the Commission would “Olympic-style test him like crazy” up to whenever that fight would take place. See his comments with further analysis in the main listing now.
-Rock icon Joan Jett was asked this week about Ronda Rousey's use of her song “Bad Reputation” as her walkout music, and she thinks it's a great thing. Catch her exchange with CM Punk on AXS TV in the main listing.
-Alistair Overeem gave his thoughts on Cain Velasquez vs. Fabricio Werdum at UFC 180, believing Velasquez has an edge, and he also believes a title run remains in his future. Catch his comments with further commentary in the main listing.
We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
