TUESDAY 7/22 NIGHTTIME UPDATE

If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Our tech team has been working on even more tweaks based on your feedback, and have optimized the site for Safari and the default Android browser. They're continuing to work on the same for both Chrome and Opera as well. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site today:

-Perhaps the biggest news of the day today is that Conor McGregor's next fight is already set. After a highly successful homecoming on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 46 in Dublin, McGregor will take on the man who called him out almost immediately on Saturday, Dustin Poirier, at UFC 178 in Las Vegas. Speaking of that card, it will officially take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Head to the main listing of our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser for more on that fight and the location of the event.

-In further reaction to last weekend's UFC Fight Night 45 and UFC Fight Night 46 events, our new roundtable today looks at what may have contributed the most to those cards being as successful and exciting as they were. Excerpt from Cash Norman: “People are caught up in the excitement and enthusiasm the Irish fans had in hosting an event after five years, and the card being headlined by their native son, who is a superstar in his country. If you take a closer look at the fights on the entire card, it isn't close to being what Fight Night 45 was last Wednesday. The preliminary card was full of low level mixed martial arts. Yes, it had a lot of finishes, but more finishes are usually the result of lower quality fighters and/or mismatches.” Full roundtable available on our mobile site now!'

-MMATorch UK Contributor Tom Strong was in attendance for UFC Fight Night 46 in Dublin alongside UK Columnist Dan Moore, and Strong today put together his take on the event, with some notes and quotes from fighters on the event as well. Excerpt: “After the success on Saturday in Dublin, Ireland, we can safely say it won't be another five years before the UFC makes a return! It can only be described as a momentous occasion for everyone in attendance, and for the fighters on the card. Dana White summed it up in just 10 words, "In 13 years, I've never seen a crowd like it." This was the magnitude of how great the fans made this event. Of course, to make a great event, you need a combination of passionate fans and great fights, and on Saturday night we experienced just that.” Full article in the main listing now.

-Bellator 123 has been finalized, and one of the names on the card stands out a little bit, as former UFC welterweight Tamdan McCrory will make his return to the sport for the first time in over five years on Sept. 5. The full lineup for the event at the Mohegan Sun is in the main listing now.

-Finally tonight, former UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz explained why he's returning against Takeya Mizugaki at UFC 178 in a three round fight, when he was offered a title bout instead. It's a reasonable explanation, and it's a sensible move on his part as well. Check out his comments with further thoughts in the main listing now.

We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!
