...OH, ONE MORE THING - PLEASE BOOKMARK US & VISIT DAILY!
WEDNESDAY 4/23 NIGHTTIME NEWS UPDATE
-Time to close out the night with our rundown of what's hit our main mobile site tonight! Catch the full listing with complete articles at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser, which has been specially designed for iPhones, iPads, Android phones, and Android tablets! Our tech team has been working on even more tweaks based on your feedback, and are working on optimizing the site for each browser and platform. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! Bookmark the site for quick access from your phone or tablet home screen to keep up with everything as it goes live.
-A new episode of The Ultimate Fighter 19 hit Fox Sports 1 tonight. If you're not watching this season (or if you are and want to follow along with my thoughts on the show each week), we'll have an ongoing “random thoughts” blog on the mobile listing each Wednesday night throughout the show's hour-long broadcast. Tonight's second episode featured the first look at Cage Warriors Champ Cathal Pendred, who wasn't quite the beast that was advertised. Get the full show report on the main listing now at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser!
-There's been another shakeup to Saturday's UFC 172 event. After stepping up last week to fight Joe Ellenberger, Vagner Rocha suffered a minor injury doing final workouts in Baltimore, and the fight has been scrapped. More with commentary on the main listing now.
-UFC Bantamweight Champion Renan Barao gave an interview to a Brazilian site this week and discussed his contract with the UFC, which he's not exactly happy with. He wants to get a better deal with them after his fight with T.J. Dillashaw at UFC 173. I think it would be beneficial for any fighter to renegotiate their deal in the event they win a title. If they capture the belt, they deserve to get paid for having that belt. His quotes and further analysis at MMATorch.com now!
-The disclosed payroll for UFC on Fox 11 has been released, and unsurprisingly the $974,000 payroll for the card was topped by a $175,000 payout for main event winner Fabricio Werdum. Donald Cerrone, Thiago Alves, and Jorge Masvidal were the next top earners on the card. The full list of payouts is available now via the main listing.
We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
