WEDNESDAY 4/23 MORNING NEWS UPDATE
-Morning update time! You can easily bookmark the site for quick access from your phone or tablet home screen to keep up with everything as it goes live. We're still taking your feedback and tweaking the experience as issues are presented, so keep letting us know how the new mobile experience is working for you!
-Frank Hyden takes a look back at last weekend's Bellator 117 and UFC on Fox 11 cards with his “Good, Bad, and Ugly” reviews. There were only a few positives this week for Frank, and a couple of things from the Fox card especially that irked him. One of those was Joe Rogan's hyperbole on commentary and in the selling of Glover Teixeira into UFC 172, which is certainly a sentiment I share with Hyden; the over-selling of Teixeira as Jon Jones' biggest challenge has been ridiculous. Get Hyden's full thoughts at MMATorch.com now!
-Speaking of Jon Jones, Chuck Liddell chimed in on the UFC Champ, saying he believed he'd have been a “horrible matchup” for Jones in his prime. Honestly, his take on Jones borders on ridiculous, and given the fighters he lost to and the way he lost his fights, it's easy to see Jones in the same mix, and with even more ways to score similar victories. Check out his quotes and analysis in the main listing now.
-A representative for Cris Cyborg released a lengthy response to Ronda Rousey calling her an “it” in a recent interview, and essentially said Rousey's resorting to verbal attacks because she won't get in the cage with Cyborg. It's a fair response, and Rousey deserves the criticism for a pointless and unneeded personal attack. The full statement with analysis is on MMATorch.com in your mobile browser now!
-Yancy Medeiros explained this week why he stepped up to face Jim Miller this weekend at UFC 172 on short notice, saying he trains to fight top guys. Further comment and analysis now on the site.
-Finally, our morning poll today looked at Phil Davis, and whether our readers expect to see him in a title fight before the end of 2015. Only 23% think he's a lock for a title fight right now; 39% think it's at least more of a possibility than they believed before, while the final 38% don't expect him to get into a title fight. Get your votes in now!
We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we work through the brand new mobile site launch! We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
