Who wins the Mark Hunt vs. Roy Nelson main event at UFC Fight Night 52, and where do they plug into the very messy UFC Heavyweight Title picture?

DAN MOORE, MMATORCH UK COLUMNIST

I wrote in a roundtable last week that I didn't want to see Andrei Arlovski vs. Antonio Silva go past the early rounds. No such concerns this week. My previous request was a bit harsh on Bigfoot considering the quality of his fight with Hunt, but I had to factor in the inevitable change of performance levels after his suspension. This weekend I want to see Mark Hunt and Roy Nelson slug it out for as long as possible and I intend to enjoy every second of it.

They're both big guys, more out than up, but they know how to fight. Having freakish athletic ability doesn't guarantee a good fighter and these two are the complete opposite. I love this fight and I really hope it lives up to my expectation. They both have one punch KO power but the stand up advantage goes to Hunt because of his leg kicks. He needs to utilise them at every opportunity to limit Nelson's chances of taking the fight to the ground.

I don't think Hunt can do it often enough over five rounds so my pick is Nelson. There hasn't been a submission in any of their last twelve fights combined so I'm ruling that out. However, Nelson is far better on the mat and his ability there will create dominant positions from where he is able to finish the fight with strikes in the third or forth round. The winner should face Andrei Arlovski next, and whoever wins that one, gets a title shot in 2015.

FRANK HYDEN, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR

I take Mark Hunt by KO in the third round. I think he'll be more active than Nelson and one of his counter punches will land first. It should be a very exciting fight. I think the winner is at least one more win away from a title shot, though. Even in the thin heavyweight division I think the winner still needs a little more added to his resume to justify a title shot. I also think the wait for UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez to defend his belt against Fabricio Werdum factors in to this as well. I could easily see the winner of Velasquez-Werdum being injured and needing months off, so the winner here will have no choice but to fight again.

TOM STRONG, MMATORCH UK CONTRIBUTOR

With granite chins and huge knockout power both men possess, this fight could go either way. Of the two fighters, Nelson has more tools in his armoury to get the win over Hunt. Therefore, I was very surprised to see Nelson as the underdog; if things get heavy and Nelson has to find a way to win, he always has the option to take Hunt down and do the damage on the mat.

The more I think of it, the less I fancy Hunt to win. Nelson isn't getting knocked out, he isn't getting taken down, and he isn't going to be out muscled. at +120 I think that's great odds to earn a few $$$.

The winner of this fight will put them in the top five within the heavyweight division, and ever closer to a title shot.
