What would you like to see the UFC put into the main event at UFC 173? What fight do you think will headline that card?

DAN MOORE, MMATORCH UK COLUMNIST

I'm actually in Las Vegas over the weekend of UFC 173. I had made provisions to purchase tickets for the event when they went on sale this week. Luckily I found out Weidman vs. Machida was postponed just before I parted with my hard earned cash. Whether I actually buy a ticket all depends on the quality of the replacement fight. It's a card currently built around one single title fight that is no longer there, and of what's left, only dos Santos vs. Miocic can be considered pay-per-view quality.

Jamie Penick covered every eventuality in an excellent reaction article he wrote straight after the injury news broke. If it's Aldo vs. Mendes, Rousey vs. Davis, or Barao vs. Assuncao then I'll buy a ticket to see a championship fight. If they go with something like MacDonald vs. Woodley then forget it, I'll watch it in a bar. This is one of the biggest three or four pay-per-view cards of the calendar year so only a championship fight would be considered a worthy replacement.

I like the JDS vs. Stipe Miocic fight, could thrust one of them right into the discussion for a championship fight.

FRANK HYDEN, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR

I think they go with a Ronda Rousey fight. I don't really see many other choices. They have to go with a title fight, and most everything else is booked. I think a Rousey fight is a good way to make up for having to delay the Weidman-Machida fight. I think the UFC will find a good opponent for Rousey and also try to get a good matchup to go underneath that fight.

CAMERON LYMAN, MMATORCH COLUMNIST

I don't expect the UFC to pit Dan Henderson against Machida, as I don't see Machida willing to give up his "guaranteed" title shot. What I would absolutely love to see would be a number one contender match between Daniel Cormier and Alexander Gustafsson. While they might both be next in line for a title shot, there is also Phil Davis vs Anthony Johnson in April which could be a number one contender match for both depending on whether they can make a statement with their performance. I see Jones needing another long layoff when he feels Glover's power and I don't want to see the division back logged with title shot guarantees. As for who will actually headline the card, I'm guessing Dos Santos vs Miocic will become the main event.

CASH NORMAN, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR

I think a middleweight contender's bout between Luke Rockhold and Jacare Souza should take place; rather than the current nonsensical bout Rockhold has against Tim Boetsch in April. Then on July 5 as Weidman and Machida face off, the fans will already know who is the next contender in line for the middleweight championship. The UFC could also market the fight as a rematch of a previous championship fight which occurred in Strikeforce.

As for the main event, the UFC should move in the heavyweight bout between Junior Dos Santos and Stipe Miocic.

The card can then be promoted as a heavyweight bout which attracts casual fans and then the co main event is a bout of importance.

TOM STRONG, MMATORCH UK CONTRIBUTOR

This won't be easy for the UFC to find a big fight that will warrant the "main event" slot at UFC 173. At short notice like his, champions won't be willing to put their titles on the line, and I don't blame them.

I'm sure Sonnen will be in contact with the UFC trying to get himself another title shot at any weight division possible. Though we may have to settle for a second tier main event.

Hector Lombard vs Tyron Woodley, who are both coming off huge wins in the welterweight division and edging nearer to that number-one contender slot, would make a very credible UFC 173 main event.
