Who wins the rematch between Dan Henderson and Shogun Rua at UFC Fight Night 38? How does that fight play out?

DAN MOORE, MMATORCH UK COLUMNIST

I really didn't want to see this rematch because it doesn't serve a purpose and will only tarnish the first fight if it ends up even 1% less exciting. That first fight at UFC 139 was one of the best fights I've ever witnessed and I'm sure 99.9% of MMA fans will agree. It was a master class and almost everything that's right with the sport. Sadly it was nearly three-years ago, and like everyone else, Shogun and Hendo are three-years older, something their recent performances have highlighted.

Henderson is extremely fortunate to be allowed to continue with his TRT usage for this fight so he'd better make the most of it. Until they match-up again it's hard to tell which one has deteriorated the most since UFC 139. Neither of them has looked impressive against quality opposition of late and a fight against each other was the best option for two legends way past their prime. I see this one also going the distance, but this time with Shogun winning, even if the overall quality of the fight doesn't live up to the last one.

I think Shogun wins this one, slightly easier than last time. I think age has started to catch up to Hendo. I see it being a UD victory for Shogun.

FRANK HYDEN, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR

I think Henderson circles Rua all night with his hand cocked and we get a subdued main event. I hope I'm wrong, and that things are more exciting. I think this is a good fight for each man because they're both guys on the tail end of their career, so it makes more sense to match them against each other.

CASH NORMAN, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR

Shogun Rua wins the rematch. If you review Shogun's previous rematch fights, he and his team make great adjustments to ensure the victory. In his rematch with Lyoto Machida (following a fight he should have won barring the ignorance of Cecil Peoples), he was able to counter strike and KO Machida. Also in his rematch with Forrest Griffin he was able to secure another KO victory. If the past tells us anything, it would seem to say Henderson will be on the receiving end of a knockout.

TOM STRONG, MMATORCH UK CONTRIBUTOR

I'll be amazed if this rematch is half as good as the first. Both fighters are starting to show their age now, Henderson on a three fight losing streak and Shogun 2-2 in the UFC since their last fight. I think the UFC have made a mistake leaving it so long to have the rematch. With the first being one of the best fights in UFC history, they could've sold the fight much easier than they are now.

I'm surprised Henderson is such an underdog in this fight. Yes he's lost his last three fights since defeating Mauricio Rua, though two of them were very close split decisions losses to Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans that could have arguably gone his way.

Mauricio Rua is 2-2 inside the Octagon since his loss to Dan Henderson. In that stretch he lost to Alexander Gustafsson and Chael Sonnen, with his two wins coming against Brandon Vera and James Te Huna.

Henderson is a class above both these fighter's even at the age of 41. Make some money here and back the underdog! Henderson to win via TKO.
