Do you prefer having major MMA events every week, or would you rather it were once or twice a month at most?
DAN MOORE, MMATORCH UK COLUMNIST
Assuming major MMA events specifically means the UFC - I wouldn't want a live event every Saturday night. Three UFC events in any calendar month would be sufficient. They ran four consecutive shows last month and, for me, it was one show too many. Now that it's been almost two weeks since the last event though, I can't wait for UFC on FX 8, even if the card doesn't look that intriguing on paper. No pleasing some people!

I don't mind MMA events constantly, but I do mind them all being put on by the UFC. There are periods where the fights are stale and the fighters don't put forth the killer instinct desired. My favorite periods are where Bellator is in full swing, the UFC is putting on a PPV every couple weeks, and one of the lesser promotions is airing one of their marquee cards. Not the weeks where there's Fuel fights, PPV cards added in with reality programming, prelims and press conferences.

If it's possible to have major MMA events every week I would most definitely want to see that. Usually a fighter only gets to compete every 3-4 months or so at most so I wouldn't worry about viewer burnout. Also, a televised card will usually only have four or five fights on it. If some is good, more must be better. I'd say 50% of MMA fights don't live up to expectations so might as well have as many as possible. The more chances for great fights the better.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing a major event every other week. I don't think there is such a thing as over exposure I mean look at baseball, all the games they play, fans will always be fans. The more exposure the better for the sport.

I would love them to be weekly, but if they're on PPV my wife will repeatedly stab me with the bluntest object she can find until it splits my skin then she will eat me like a cantaloupe. Honestly, if there is a balance between PPV and free TV weekly would be the greatest thing ever. Once every two weeks is fine too, they dont want to over saturate the market, but with the roster they have it could be more beneficial to do them more often.

I would love to have two UFC events a month with one being a PPV and one being a free TV event. The UFC has enough talented fighters to pull that off, but any more than that is too much and dilutes the events themselves.

I don't really get fans complaining about too many events, but then again I enjoy seeing two no-name fighters tee off on each other. I had this conversation with a friend who is a casual fan. He only watches the big name fights and usually the co-main and main event. For the casual fan, I could see there being too many divisions in too many organizations for them to keep track of and it could get to a point where they stop paying attention unless there is a belt on the line. For me, however, I say the more events the better.
