Ben Henderson and Clay Guida had everything on the line on Saturday at UFC on Fox 1, with the winner set up for a title shot against Frankie Edgar in 2012. Neither wanted to relinquish that shot to the other, and it showed in fantastic 15 minute fight.
Henderson ultimately earned the unanimous decision with scores of 29-28, 30-27, and 30-27, but Guida hung with him in each and every round to provide some of the year's most exhilarating moments in the cage.
Henderson got to work early, rocking Guida with a few punches in the first couple of minutes, but Guida returned the favor by the end of the round. In both the second and third, Henderson took Guida's back and nearly locked on a submission, only to have Guida sneak out and force Henderson to survive in the third round.
It was a fantastic effort by both fighters in Anaheim, and Henderson now makes the transition from the WEC complete as locks up a date with Edgar next year.
