Strikeforce may have some life afterall. With the departure of Ken Hershman from Showtime, UFC President Dana White says he has now taken over negotiations with the network to extend things between the two sides. White has long had issues with Hershman, but with him out of the picture White thinks a new deal can be done, and he said as much after the UFC 137 pre-fight press conference (transcribed by MMAFighting.com):
"I was in New York [Wednesday] and met with Showtime. That's why I was there. So yeah, I'm it now. I took over... I had a great meeting with them. We'll see how it goes. I met with all of them, the whole crew. It went very well, and we'll see how it progresses."
