Just like UFC 117 didn't end without a touch of controversy, we had a bit of our own here at the Torch. The Prediction Contest went off without a hitch, as #1 contender Cambo "Rambo" Nelson unseated defending champion Rich "Blowtorch" Hansen with a mark of 9-2, while Hansen could only manage seven correct predictions. Congrats to our new Prediction Champion Cambo "Rambo" Nelson!
Where things got interesting was in the championship betting contest. Incumbent Champion Dom762 was set to take on Robert, but Robert was a no-show. So we went to the next best finisher from UFC 116, a man named simply "Daley", but Daley was also a no-show for UFC 117. So we ended up with Dom taking on third place finisher... Cambo "Rambo" Nelson. Nelson unwittingly ended up as a double #1 contender and he made the most of it. Dom762 netted a small loss, but Nelson turned a profit of over $300 to claim the strap. So another congrats to our new Betting Champion (and now a duel champion) Cambo "Rambo" Nelson!
In the betting pool, Rich Hansen nearly (but not quite) made up for dropping his prediction title by snagging the betting #1 contendership. He moves on to UFC 118 to once again tangle with Cambo Nelson, this time for Nelson's betting title. Congrats to Mr. Hansen!
On the prediction side, John Hickman saved me a lot of work, besting a group of five at 8-3 with a superb 9-2. A sincere congrats and thanks to Mr. Hickman for not making me have to go back and figure out tie-breakers for the other five. He moves on to also battle Cambo Nelson at UFC 118. Full results:

Performer of the Night: I already gave John Hickman his mention, so this has to go to Cambo "Rambo" Nelson. Talk about being ready when your number is called. I think winning both titles in one night is an automatic POTN.
Goat of the Night: Just as winning both titles in one night is an automatic POTN, no-showing a title shot is an automatic GOTN, so this goes to Robert.

"There's still a large contingent of people, that they just want to see these guys almost die, or the other guy almost die and come back, and sometimes fights are like that. Certainly they are. But sometimes you get technical masterpieces too, and to hate a beautiful, technical fight - you're not really a fight fan...

Nick Diaz is simply designed to fight the way he fights, and not many other fighters are...
"There was a lot of poison going on around there and I'm really disappointed because we had a good thing going. It was a good thing and I think people's egos got in the way. Well, not people just Javier, his ego got in the way, and too many cameras in the gym and him trying to build himself up and his brand, his AKA brand...
